Incumbent
serves as the Risk Management Specialist in the Office of
Environmental Health and Safety with the Department of
Public Safety and
Emergency Management Services and is responsible for
administering and managing the facility's risk management
program for the University.
Duties
1. Manages the University's Risk Management Program
by providing professional and managerial expertise
necessary to ensure protection of
the University's assets and its business operations.
2.
Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures
for the identification, collection and analysis of risk
related information.
3.
Serves as a staff authority regarding emergency planning,
response, mitigation, and recovery including all phases of
business continuity.
4.
Assists and maintains active liaisons with Campus
constituencies preparing emergency, business continuity,
and business recovery plans,
e.g. Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP).
5.
Manages the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan and
reviews and updates plan as needed (i.e., changes in floor
monitors, captains,
emergency contact information).
6.
Develops, implements, and manage a process for campus wide
hazard analysis designed to assess the potential impacts
of significant natural or human-caused events.
7.
Develops plans and recommendations designed to mitigate
the lasting impacts to the University Campus based upon
data gathered from
vulnerability studies and loss histories of similarly
situated institutions or entities.
8.
Develops a network of emergency preparedness planners and
provide regular trainings and briefings to facilitate the
planning process.
9.
Provides leadership to the University in identification
and response to risk exposures; recommends appropriate
loss control measures.
10. Establishes programs to increase awareness of
effective risk management practices, and serves as and
advocate for effective risk management throughout the
organization.
11. Develop system for tracking and studying safety
and loss trends including collaboration with University
Human Resources
12. Provide summaries and statistical reports
related to loss and trending annually to the Director.
13. Conduct investigations of injuries and property
damage including those related to hazardous materials.
14. Perform on-site and off-site building and life
safety inspections and prepare follow-up reports that are
distributed to departments for
improvements.
15. Respond to questions and resolves issues related
to injures and property damage in collaboration with Human
Resources or their designee.
16. In cooperation with University representatives,
develops and implements loss control programs which
support loss prevention and cost containment practices.
17. Assists in environmental health and safety
records management, data tracking and analysis activities
as required by regulatory authorities
and University policies and procedures.
18. Assists in preparation of the annual department
budget.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
