Engineer - Maryland Safety
Engineering opportunity near Frederick, MD. Industrial Safety
experience within a Power Plant facility highly desired.
Client Company, an independent Power Company with experienced
leadership and financial strength has an immediate opportunity
for a Safety Engineer located in Montgomery County, MD. This
position offers plenty of developmental and leadership

Position Overview:
The Safety Engineer is responsible for coordinating programs
relating to overall Safety and Health compliance, response
actions, incident investigation and implementation of company
Safety and Health management system and policies.
Duties will also include:
•The preparation of site specific safety compliance training
programs & modules.
•Provide or work with the Training Coordinator to arrange for
required safety training of station personnel
•Analysis of hazardous materials used or proposed for use at
the site
• Inspections and participation in accident
investigations/root cause analysis of safety incidents,
inspections, and audits, and filings under federal regulations.
Performance Objectives:
•Learn the processes and safety practices for this Power
Generating Station, it's important that you understand how the
plant operates so you can effectively implement safety programs
and practices. This is a coal-fired power plant with a
generating capacity of 1,492 megawatts. Construction crews are
also in the process of building scrubbers, to reduce emissions
from the plant, so construction safety is another key concern.
•Build relationships with the people who operate the plant.
"Safety is a people business" - that's the motto of
our safety organization. This position places emphasis on the
people side of safety.
•The Safety organization will implement a People-Based Safety
Initiative very soon. Involvement is hands-on and immediate; the
project has a targeted completion date of October 2008.
•Continue to develop technical skills and safety industry
knowledge. The organization supports continued education,
conference attendance and pursuit of certifications that are
relevant to the position. There is always more to learn when it
comes to safety.
Position Requirements and Preferences:
We're looking for a candidate with five years in Industrial
Safety; preferably in a power plant environment (oil refinery or
chemical processing plant backgrounds are acceptable). You
should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
(with a focus on industrial safety, EHS, etc., preferred).
Most important of all, you must be able to communicate ideas and
procedures effectively to the plant employees and the team. Have
