and financial strength has an immediate opportunity for a Safety
Engineer based in San Francisco

Position Overview:
The Safety Engineer position requires excellent judgment, professional
and project management skills to conduct or assist with projects and
tasks under the implementation responsibility of Company’s Safety and
Health Department to achieve an injury free and regulatory compliant
workplace. The Safety Engineer is an integral part of the company’s
mission to achieve world class safety and health performance. CANDIDATES
MUST HAVE POWER PLANT EXPERIENCE
Primary responsibilities include:
•Coordinating programs relating to overall Safety and Health
compliance, response actions, incident investigation and implementation
of company Safety and Health management system and policies. These
responsibilities require a working knowledge of the OSHA and other
regulatory programs.
•Additionally, the position may require conducting, coordinating
and/or assisting with the implementation of industrial hygiene studies
and developing/implementing programs relating to overall safety and
health.
Responsibilities/Performance Objectives:
1. Coordinate Cal/OSHA compliance. Safety is our number one goal as a
corporation and we want to make sure we're at the head of the class in
this area.
2. Communicate safety requirements for employee and management jobs -
It's your job to make sure that those in the plants understand what the
safety guidelines are and what they need to do to keep in line with
them.
3. Safety management system implementation - Within the next 12 months,
Client Company will be implementing a safety management system across
the fleet. You'll contribute to this rollout by conducting plant safety
meetings, inspections and helping your plant to improve safety
statistics to the level of industry best performers.
Qualifications:
•BS/BA degree, preferably in industrial safety, occupational
safety/health, industrial hygiene or a related field.
•3-5 years of industrial safety experience in a power plant
environment and knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations.
•A safety certification and regulatory experience are preferred.
•The best Safety Engineer will be a team player with excellent
problem-solving skills. You'll have regular interaction with the plant
employees and management, external regulatory agencies and the corporate
safety organization.
