Transportation Field Safety Manager - Oregon

Ensure the preventive maintenance schedules and documentation set by OSHA and the company is being maintained for all vehicles and machinery.
(Hoist/crane, air compressor, forklift, etc.)


Train and/or re-train personnel as necessary or scheduled.

Investigate and document all accidents, incidents and injuries.

Monitor safe decking and pre-trip inspection procedures, to ensure they are being followed per company procedures, OSHA, and DOT Regulations.

Communicate with personnel to identify and/or resolve safety related issues.

Complete a periodic terminal inspection, each quarter or as needed.  Report the findings to the Terminal Manager and the Director of Safety. Work to resolve any deficiencies with the terminal management.

Assist drivers to resolve problems in the field.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise all safety aspects at the terminal and report any issues to the Terminal Manager and the Director of Safety.


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledgeable in the following areas:

Company Quality System Policies/Procedures

All procedures relating to Safety and Transportation of Units
OSHA Regulations
DOT Regulations
EPA Regulations
Current Union contract

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (A.A.) relating to safety or five years related transportation experience and training.

Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

Basic Computer Skills



LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and speak the English language in a professional setting.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, executives and customers.  Possess the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of organizations.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Valid CDL
