The Company
Our Client is the Canadian division of an international
risk management firm who has earned a reputation as an
authority in providing risk assessment services, HSE
management systems expertise and safety/technical
inspection services focused on the oil and gas industry.
They have recently been acquired by a UK based
independent risk management organization with global
operations that is expanding in Canada.
The Function
Our Client is seeking the right person to join their
Calgary-based team to provide guidance to internal
staff, lead teams, assist in the development, and
professional delivery, of a range of qualitative and
quantitative Risk Management Services, and direct other
Risk Consulting staff in the conduct of their duties.
• Provide input to the development of project
proposals.
• Deliver professional technical risk services to
clients
• Generate, maintain and archive records of external
projects.
• Carry out internal development projects as
instructed by the General Manager.
• Maintain and enhance client relationships.
• Provide demonstrations of software and techniques.
• Assist with end of month client billing as required.
• Assist where qualified to do so, with internal
training of company personnel.
• Assist with human resources management and project
planning as required.
• Write reports and associated documents for safety
studies as required.
• Manage project costs and optimize staff utilization.
• Establish and maintain job descriptions and resumes
of the consultants.
The Individual
• An Engineering degree; currently holding, or
eligible to obtain a P.Eng. designation in the province
of Alberta.
• Minimum 10 years experience in oil and gas
(onshore/offshore), petrochemical or process industry.
• Proven ability to lead, build relationships, and
deliver results.
• Strong capability using risk assessment techniques (HAZID,
HAZOP, What-If Analysis, LOPA, SIL, bow tie).
• Consequence analysis (fire and blast) and
quantitative risk assessment tools and techniques (QRA),
• Strong capabilities in safety case development and
implementation.
• Application of Risk Management Tools and Techniques,
expertise performing hazard and risk reviews, and strong
facilitation experience.
• Able to develop enterprise/organizational/project
risk assessments.
• Capabilities in areas of risk based mechanical
integrity, reliability and maintainability (RAM).
• Excellent analytical/problem solving, organizational
and planning skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening,
technical writing, public speaking, etc.) are essential.
• Business development and knowledge of legal
requirements affecting the business unit and services
delivered is preferred.
• Should be able to work autonomously, show
initiative, and be willing to be trained in a variety of
software packages, and willing to work outside normal
office hours.
