Safety Manager - New York
We are
currently seeking a Life Safety Manager to join our
office located in New York, NY
LIFE SAFETY MANAGER - New York, NY
Responsibilities:
* Perform highly advanced and specialized work directing
a safety and health program
* Identify staff development and training requirements
pertaining to health and safety topics
* Maintain current knowledge of all laws and
requirements imposed by outside agencies (state or
federal); comply with regulatory agencies and national
guidelines such as, but not limited to, National Fire
Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and
Health Administration (OSHA)
* Maintain statutory compliance with all applicable Fire
and Life Safety related requirements, including NYC
Local Law 26
* Meet with client's business line representatives to
ensure correction of safety violations
* Prepare and maintain a comprehensive safety manual
outlining and establishing measures and procedures for
all safety programs
* Conduct fire and life safety inspections at all
locations and investigates fire incidents
* Submit comprehensive investigation reports regarding
fire incidents to the Operations Manager
* Maintain all fire suppression equipment (fire
extinguishers, sprinkler systems, FM-200, pre-action,
VESADA, Halon, house hoses, etc.)
* Maintain and conduct tests of local fire alarm
systems, emergency lighting and exit lights
* Oversee scheduling and coordination of mandated annual
inspections of fire alarm systems, fire suppression
systems, and fire extinguishers
* Develop, administer and maintain comprehensive
programs on Hazardous Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS),
Hazardous Waste Management, Lead Base Paint, Asbestos
Management and other environmental programs
* Oversee the disposal of all hazardous waste chemicals
and products as mandated by local code and the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
* Review and coordinate insurance company inspections in
accordance with client requirements
* Respond to calls to assist during fires, storms,
riots, or other emergencies
* Maintain safety contingency plans, such as accidental
chemical spills, disaster recovery, avian flu pandemic,
and massive building destruction
* Coordinate activities relative to emergency response
for suspicious agents such as anthrax or other
biological and/or select agents
* Prepare and maintain Business Continuity Plans,
Business Interruption Analysis, Structured Walkthrough
Tests, Call Tree Tests, Disaster Recovery Plans,
conducts disaster recovery tests
* Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies in areas of
environmental, health & safety
* Assist in the preparation of a comprehensive budget
for all functions of Health & Safety, Life
Safety/Fire Prevention, Risk Management, Business
Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Emergency Response, and
Environmental Issues
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree (advanced degree or certification(s)
a plus)
* Minimum of 5-plus years in the field of Fire &
Life Safety
* Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
* Strategic thinker with strong implementation
orientation
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Computer proficiency
