Work as a Plant Health, Safety, and Environmental
specialist for the world's leading automotive component
supplier. This job will reside in Saint Joseph, MI, one
of the Midwest's premier vacation destinations near the
sandy shores of Lake Michigan.
You will have the opportunity to work in a union
manufacturing environment reporting to the Director of
Human Resources performing the following tasks:
- Stay abreast of current and upcoming local, state and
federal safety EHS regulations with regards to their
potential effect upon the organization.
- Enforce OSHA, NFPA, and DEQ standards and regulations
for the safety of the employees and visitors while on
company property.
- Act as plant liaison with governmental agencies for
all audits and investigations concerning environmental,
health and safety programs.
- Communicate regularly with Bosch's Corporate EHS group
on the status of compliance, areas of noncompliance, the
results of all investigations, and assists in the
development of the corporate position regarding each
area of non-compliance, whether recognized internally or
cited by Federal/State OSHA.
- Implement safe practices in automotive machining and
assembly environment.
- Audit and assess working conditions and practices in
relation to safety and environmental compliance.
- Create, write, and develop necessary safety polices
and training materials, documents and procedures for an
effective safety program including but not limited to
emergency response, evacuation procedures, HAZMAT, and
DOT.
- Coordinate training for managers and employees.
- Coordinate air, hazardous waste, storm and waste water
permitting compliance, audit, testing, record keeping,
reporting, and any corrective support.
- Assistance with ISO/TS updates and initiatives.
- Must acquire and maintain appropriate licenses and
certifications to be effective in this position.
The ideal candidate will be a team player, self
motivated, able to multi-task in a fast paced
manufacturing environment, and have excellent time
management skills toward goal achievement with the
following credentials:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Environmental
Engineering, Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, or
equivalent field.
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in the environmental and
safety area in a manufacturing environment, and a
thorough knowledge of ISO 14001 and 18001 standards.
- Thorough current knowledge and understanding of all
aspects of Federal and State (Michigan) OSHA laws, and
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations .
- Knowledge of processes and equipment characteristic of
automotive manufacturing operations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability
to communicate effectively across all levels of
management.
- Solid computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Knowledge of employee/labor relations procedures in a
manufacturing plant (union environment) preferred.
- Ability to establish and meet targets, report metrics,
and project timelines that fall within one's assigned
responsibilities.
