Director of Security - New Mexico

Casino Careers Online has a client seeking a candidate for a Director of Security position, which is located in Espanola, NM.

The position description is as follows:

SUMMARY:                

Direct the successful overall daily operations of the Security Department, in accordance with established company policies, procedures and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

-Make suggestions and recommendations, as appropriate, for the internal security of specific operations and departments on property.
-Ensures the quality of operations in all areas of the Security Department.
-Enforces performance standards within department.
-Direct all activities on property, to ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations and controls of the company, OSHA and Gaming Commission are enforced throughout the Company.
-Manages investigations conducted by the Security Department.
-Conducts routine examinations, to completely and concisely investigate the background of any individual requiring access to sensitive areas of the property.
-Investigates any losses that may or may not have been a result of criminal actions, and reports results to the appropriate entity.
-Establishes and maintains an effective Security force for the protection and safety of customers, Employees and facilities of the Company.
-Implements a strategy for the protection of life and property at the Company.
-Authorizes security clearance and/or access to sensitive areas of the property.
-Monitors fire control systems and personal alarm systems on property.
-Maintains adequate staffing levels in the Security Department, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating Employees, as needed.
-Develops and maintains good working relationships with various members of the business community (i.e. Gaming Commission, Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, and Fire Department).
-Reviews departmental reports, addressing potential conflicts and/or misinformation.
-Ensures a maximum level of customer service and satisfaction throughout the property is achieved and maintained.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:         

Directly supervises the Security Shift Managers, and indirectly supervises all the Security Department employees.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:

GAMING INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement from a four-year college or university; and/or four to six years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Five years experience in Law Enforcement, with progressive supervisory/managerial experience required.   Gaming background highly preferred.   Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
