Safety Manager - Tennessee
Warehouse Safety Manager opening in Memphis, TN
General Summary:
Designs, administers and ensures compliance with policies
and procedures relating to accident prevention, health and
safety, environmental and fire prevention/protection.
Essential Functions:
Manage, review, and enforce health, safety, and
environmental regulations, including all required training
Ensure distribution center associates and procedures
adhere to local, state and federal regulations and notify
appropriate personnel when DC is not in compliance or
potentially is not in compliance
Ensure First Response Teams are established and trained;
oversee DC Safety Committee
Maintain working relationships with local police and fire
departments
Ensure fire hazards are eliminated and conduct drills to
maintain fire fighting
Maintain and conduct all equipment and safety training in
the facility, including the proper recording of required
records
Conduct and manage the safety orientation program for all
newly hired associates, temporary labor and contractors
Manage, review and enforce the accident/incident
investigation procedures, workers’ compensation
procedures and necessary retraining/counseling
Develop, review, and maintain a network of preferred
providers
Develop extensive knowledge of physical requirements for
all positions in Distribution Center to coordinate all
return to work activities
Develop and administer a modified or alternative duty
program to facilitate return to work for associates with
work restrictions
Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety inspections
Notify managers of safety hazards in each area
Maintain a log of identified safety hazards
Maintain associate workers’ compensation/medical files
Share and provide appropriate information and anticipate
information needs of all distribution center associates in
accordance with company safety, health, environmental,
policies and guidelines
Maintain Temporary OSHA Log
Maintain the strictest confidentiality
Prepare various statistics and reports for functional area
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health
Act (OSHA)
Strong leadership, administrative, managerial and
communication skills
Good analytical ability to gather and interpret
information, and develop, recommend and implement
solutions
Knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
PC skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet
