Construction Site Safety and Health Officer - Virginia

General Contractor needs Construction Site Safety and Health Officer in the Northern VA area, CSP/CIH a MUST.

The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). A minimum of 10 years safety work of a progressive nature with at least 5 years of experience on similar government projects is required. Must have 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years; an average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following 4 areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection; Confined space. In addition the CQCSM must possess strong communication skills; must be computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel; must have strong organizational skills; and must have strong capabilities in reading and understanding construction documents.

Major Duties shall include but not limited to:
Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections.
The SSHO shall maintain and oversee a qualified staff of safety personnel.
Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports.
Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and sub-contractors.
Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings.
Implement and enforce accepted APPS and AHAs.
Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
Ensure sub-contractors compliance with safety and health requirements.
Perform duties of the CSP, CIH, ASP, STS CHST.

Documentation Required:
Copies of current CSP/CIH certifications
Resume that includes project list with brief description of project, duration, value and Owner
List of training over the past 5 years with dates, and copies of  any certificates received
